Coatings made from Optopolymer®

If large surfaces or complex geometries are to have diffuse-reflective, Lambertian properties, for example for reflector panels and 3D models for the calibration of sensors, coating the components with a white-reflective, sprayable coating of high-purity barium sulfate (BaSO4) has established itself as a cost-effective process. For this purpose, our experienced specialists manufacture a special barium sulfate coating that has already proven itself in daily use by numerous customers around the world.

Properties

Optopolymer® BaSO4-coating does not quite achieve the unrivaled diffuse reflectance properties of our Optopolymer® PTFE. However, it still enables high-quality, non-luminescent surfaces with an optical diffuse reflectance of 95-98 %R in the wavelength range from UV-A to IR. We offer our coating service for flat layered components but also for partial coatings of complex geometries. This service ranges from recoating existing, used products (for example the recoating of integration spheres) over coating individual components or systems to coating large series. If things have to move particularly quickly, for example for your pre-series testings at the prototype stage, we alternatively offer you our white optical diffuse reflective coating either sprayable in various container sizes or as a complete sprayer kit including glass container and spray can. This allows you to coat your components and various surfaces yourself.

Advantages

  • sprayable, high quality optical coating

  • applicable on various surfaces and complex geometries

  • diffuse reflection between 95-98 %R, in the wavelength range from 300 to 1,300 nm

  • thermally stable up to approx. 60 °C

  • suitable for recoating; longer service life of components

Applications

  • Coating of integrating spheres
  • Spectrophotometer
  • Lamp housings
  • Backlight reflectors
  • Remote sensing systems
  • Calibration standards (e.g. LiDAR)
  • Prototyping
  • Other laboratory applications requiring diffuse reflection

Coating Service

In order to achieve an optimal result, a professional coating process under controlled conditions is crucial in addition to the use of carefully selected materials. We will be happy to coat your components for you in our modern production facility, from single orders to large series. Contact us at an early stage and ideally send us a drawing or sample of your component to be coated. This makes it easier for us to make a targeted statement about the possibilities and costs of the individual coating of your product. Benefit from our quality assurance accompanying series production in our in-house test laboratory. We will be pleased to have reflection measurements of your coated surfaces carried out for you and provide you with a measurement report for specific quality statements on request.
