"Lifetime achievement - Prof. Dr. Georg Zundel" (Brochure - 27 pages)

Georg Zundel (May 17, 1931 - March 11, 2007) was a German professor of physical chemistry, chair of biophysics at the University of Munich, peace activist, environmentalist and philanthropist.

His father, Georg Friedrich Zundel, was a painter and his mother, Paula Zundel, was the daughter of German industrialist Robert Bosch.

As a scientist, he gained worldwide renown for his hydrogen bond research. During the Cold War, he worked closely with colleagues from both the East and the West. During his academic career, he published 313 scientific papers. A number of scientific discoveries in the field of hydrogen bonding carry Zundel's name.

As an entrepreneur, he founded the Berghof Laboratory for Physics and Technology in 1966, which was transformed into Zundel Holding GmbH + Co. KG in 2003. Today's Berghof Group of Companies has six companies at various locations in and outside Germany, operating in the fields of laboratory and polymer technology, automation, filtration, photonics and the environment.

As a philanthropist, he founded the Berghof Foundation for Conflict Studies in 1971, which was soon to play a decisive role in the then emerging field of peace research.

In this field, he was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2003.
